Stefan Wojnecki
Born in 1929, graduated in Physics at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. A creator numbered among the photographical Neo-avant-garde, an animator and a photography theorist. He is associated with the terms of intermedia and postmedia photography . An author of a few dozen individual exhibitions, he has taken part in about a hundred group exhibitions since 1956, including prestigious presentations in Poland and abroad. In the ranking of the best exhibitions of artists from Poznañ since 1989, his retrospective exhibition Cracks – towards simulation from 1999 is among the first ten. An author of numerous
theoretical statements about photography, including a script My theory of photography. Since 1971 he has been a member of the Association of Polish Artists Photographers, he has held the highest functions in the Polish photography movement. A curator of a few dozen important exhibitions, symposiums and workshops, also of international meaning. Thanks to his actions among others there have been five editions of the Photography Biennale in Poznañ and nine
editions of the International Photography Workshop Profile in Skoki. An originator of studies at the faculty of photography in Polish art schools. The first nominal professor of the art discipline photography in Poland. Since 1978 he has worked at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (former PWSSP). He is now the head of the Computer Photography Studio of this university , and since 1999 also a professor at the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź. He has been
an expert on the Council of Higher Art Education and an adviser to the National Accreditation Commission for many years. He has written almost a hundred reviews regarding PhD and post-PhD studies and procedures for granting the title of a professor . He received a number of awards and prizes as well as decorations of great importance, international ones included. He is a laureate of e.g. a Scholae Bene Merito medal of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, and a Golden Medal for the Meritorius for Art Gloria Artis. He is now a member of the Art Prize Chapter of the City Poznañ. His creative profile has been described in numerous texts, including biographical publications of high rank, like Contemporary Photographers, Who`s Who in the World or The Golden Book of Polish Science 2006 – The Scientists of United Europe.
