My photography in a nutshell (1956 - 2006)

The leitmotif of my art is  penetrating art. By this term I understand art which deals with itself, oriented on its own features and dependencies, penetrating the nooks, seams and edges of its territory in a way appropriate for art. It especially refers to inside matters, new aspects, the way of understanding photography.
Looking at photographic materials, my creations pass between the utmost poles of analogue and digital photography, illustrating mathematical functions. Referring to the realisation process, 50 years of distance is filled with a range of photos exposed in the time of hundred millionth of a second to photos which were possible to be taken only once a day. During the exposition of both of them, one cannot see what is being photographed. These works require expert knowledge, perfectionism and professional skills.
From the point of view of the then ideas of art, I take an attitude towards them directly or indirectly, often reaching for the flesh of ponderable social issues. I do not avoid reflection on the magic of photographic matter either . However , the issue I keep returning to is a philosophical problem of presenting movement, its various forms and depictions.
For understandable reasons, the set of works presented includes documentation of photographic objects, installations, performances or parafilm actions only to a small degree.
In the considerations above I omit my attitude towards the theory of photography , emphasising the extra-cultural conditioning of art.
In 1956-1968 I dealt with  generative photography. It was photography creating images of itself. In 1969-1981 I was creating concurrently alongside analytical photography. It means that besides the penetration of the qualities of photography I also touched social issues in my works. In 1982-1999 I was associated with  intermedia photography. Since 2000 I have pursued  postmedia photography.  The last two terms were introduced by me.
